Some officers in Texas have launched a campaign to raise awareness of the law against impeding traffic. In other words, ticketing the oblivious and/or callous drivers who hog the left lane. Awesome!

Not only are these left lane hogs a significant hinderance to traffic flow, but also are largely responsible for the majority of road rage. Just think, would tailgating occur nearly as often if there wasn't that one driver holding everyone up?

While it may be frustrating how few drivers are aware of the law that slower traffic keeps right, what I truly don't understand are drivers like the one in this report by KHOU News. Not only does she admit to always staying in the left lane, but also goes on to say, "They usually give me the bird *chuckling* or wave at me."

THEN WHY DO YOU CONTINUE TO HOG THE LANE? If you receive the bird on a regular basis while driving, I think that should be a clue that you are doing something wrong....

In mass they regularly ticket for it, I've never been ticketed as I do well over the speed limit and don't hold up traffic like others.

I've had friends pulled over for it for cruising at 70mph and not moving over for other cars.

More and more states are starting to do this. Slowly but surely logic is creeping back into the system and they are realizing it's important to promote safety and efficiency, not park and farm speeding tickets. That was actually one of the primary suggestions that came back from safety studies in several states including mine... but here they simply decided to ignore it and increase their spending on propaganda.

Oh I love those Texan's, Currently on my morning commute there is construction and people like to ride the left lane because they are to scared to switch lanes on the bridge.

So lots of lane hogs there. I even try to be nice and show people I pass and go back into the right lane and hope the get the hint but nooo.

Guy near where I lived used to have one. But it was on a tricked-out G8, looked badass.

GOOD.

Colorado started doing this and it is great.

My new tip: Pass these assholes, get in front of them, then slow way down so they get in the middle or right lane, then speed back up to normal. Congrats, you just did the world a service.
